The Ultimate Chocolate Cobbler Recipe: Gooey, Delicious, and Easy

This Chocolate Cobbler is a rich, gooey, self-saucing dessert that’s incredibly easy to make. With a crisp, buttery top and a luscious molten chocolate center, it’s the perfect indulgence for any occasion. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!

  • Total Time: 45 mins
  • Yield: 8 Servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the butter in an 8-inch square baking dish and let it melt while the oven heats.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, ¾ cup of sugar, and 1 ½ tablespoons of cocoa powder. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate small bowl, mix the remaining 1 cup of sugar with ¼ cup of cocoa powder.
  4. Take the baking dish out of the oven. Pour the flour mixture over the melted butter without stirring. Evenly sprinkle the sugar-cocoa mixture on top.
  5. Gently pour the boiling water over everything. Do not stir.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is set. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor: Use dark cocoa powder instead of regular cocoa.
  • Want extra gooeyness? Bake for a few minutes less to keep the sauce extra molten.
  • Make it gluten-free: Substitute gluten-free self-rising flour for a gluten-free version.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
